Josh Goldflam is well known in investment real estate circles as a deal maker. In his first decade in the business, Josh has amassed a billion dollars’ worth of investment and development property sales to his credit, spanning multiple asset classes including high profile transactions in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Noteworthy sales include the Manhattan development assemblages for the Gotham Hotel in Midtown, The 90,000 SF Centurion Condo on 56th Street just off of 5th Ave, 133 Mulberry Street Condos, and 50 Franklin Street in Tribeca.  Noteworthy Investment Property sales include 827-831 Broadway just off Union Square, the 150 Unit Crescent Club in Queens Plaza/Long Island City, and 100 Christopher Street in the West Village.   Leveraging long term clients and excellent relationships, he has re-sold the same building twice over 10 times in his career to date.   Josh also has tremendous experience in helping arrange equity and debt for client projects as well as arranging complex joint venture partnerships between developers and property owners.  Josh’s dynamic personality combined with his extreme passion for real estate and in-depth knowledge of the investment & development property markets results in his unique ability to get the toughest deals and most complex negotiations closed.  He is continuously recognized for his accomplishments in various industry journals and has also been instrumental in helping Highcap Group earn continuous top rankings for investment sales brokerages in New York City.  Josh is active outside the office with various sports and non-for profit organizations. He currently lives with his family on the Upper East Side has served on the Board of Directors of his cooperative.

Christen Portelli

Christen Portelli is established in the industry for her tenacious and analytical approach to every deal. Her vivacious personality along with long-standing relationships allows her to source creative opportunities for her clients, proven through her impeccable track record. She has victoriously negotiated billions of dollars in sales transactions through various market cycles and has expertise in investment sales along with partnerships interests, note sales and debt/equity financing. With an appreciation for architecture, she has contributed to the evolution of many building conversions and has helped shaped the skyline with development deals as well. In addition, her underwriting analysis along with ability to project future returns and forecast trends create excellent opportunities for her clients in the income producing sector, both commercial and multi-family. Some of the noteworthy and iconic transactions which Ms. Portelli has been involved in include: “Temple Court” in Downtown Manhattan; “The Whitman” in the Flatiron District; “The Allerton House” in Midtown; the “Met-Life” building in Bronxville; the “Henry Fernbach” building in Soho; “The Seville” in the West Village; and “Morgan Lofts” in Midtown. Ms. Portelli continues to be a highly respected, key contributor in the investment sales community. From the early stages in her career to present, she is continuously recognized as a Woman in Real Estate by the New York Real Estate Journal.

Laurence Ross

Co-Founder & Principal

Laurence J. Ross, a Managing Principal and Co-Founder of Highcap Group, is now celebrating his 33rd year in the business, having successfully negotiated hundreds of sales transactions over the course of his career. His venture into real estate began as a college intern, working for Balcor-American Express’s limited partnership and syndication subsidiary.  From there he went to work as a sales associate at LI based Parke-Hayden Realty and subsequently Winoker where he helped spearhead the Investment Sales Division.  Prior to forming Highcap, Laurence worked at Besen & Associates as a Senior Broker where he helped grow the firm. Over the course of his career he has successfully negotiated notable NY sales transactions such as 345 West 35th St (TRYP Hotel), 131 West 33rd St (Childrenswear Building), 375 W Broadway (Anthropologie Bldg) in Soho, Met Life Storage Facility in Bronxville and most recently the sale/JV of the Roslyn Hotel and legendary music venue My Father’s Place where he currently sits on the Board of Directors.  He has a wide perspective of the field, earned over his past involvement in all facets of the industry, including management, leasing and ownership. His deep understanding of the ever changing dynamics of the NYC marketplace and consultative solution approach towards asset disposition has made him a leader in his field and is recognized as a seasoned veteran in the industry.  Ross graduated from the University of MD in College Park with a BS degree in Business and Marketing. He was awarded the NY Skyline Award by SmartCEO Magazine, named as a Commercial Broker All Star from Globe St/RE Media Network, and recently the Hospitality Deal of the Year by LI Business Network. His articles have been featured in many of the leading real estate publications over the years. Ross is an avid golfer, and serves on the Board of Directors at Glen Head Country Club Golf and related committees. He is also a member of CHIP (Community Housing Improvement Program) and the NRC (National Realty Club).
